Harnessing AI to achieve the Triple Aim in Eye Care

Demand for eye care is outpacing supply. Practices are drowning in admin complexity. Imagine if the entire clinic ran itself — so physicians and staff focused only on care.

Increase Access

Demand for eye care is accelerating with 82M Americans projected ≥65 by 2050. Our technology unlocks capacity so practices can serve more patients without adding headcount.

Improve Quality

AI-powered clinical documentation, imaging analysis, and decision support enable physicians to deliver higher quality care while eliminating manual errors and administrative burden.

Reduce Cost

Automate administrative tasks consuming up to 40% of physician time. Our platform drives 20% overhead reduction and expands EBITDA margins from 22% to 37%.

Eye care faces significant challenges

The U.S. ophthalmology market is projected to grow to $100B by 2032, yet a ~30% workforce gap looms by 2035. The industry is constrained not by science — but by systems.

Patient Pain Points

6-month appointment lag in some cases
Long visit times of 2-3 hours per appointment
Referral to multiple specialists with poor care coordination
Poor compliance — dropped prescriptions and missed injection visits
Frustrating and opaque billing experiences

Provider Frustrations

Physician burn-out is a growing crisis
Siloed EMRs, imaging systems, and billing software
Up to 40% of physician time consumed by administrative tasks
Despite scribes, providers still doing much of the EMR charting
Incumbents — independent practices, PE-backed platforms, and SaaS tools — are unable to solve these challenges

Building the next generation eye care platform to fill the gap

We combine transformational technology, strategic clinical partnerships, and a scalable platform model — starting with retina.

01 — Technology

Build Transformational Tech

Build out AI-native tools that increase patient throughput, take on unserved demand, and improve quality of service across every workflow touchpoint.

02 — Partnership

Partner with Visionary Operators

Specialize in retina practices. Partner with excellent platforms and independent operators that share our vision. Deploy technology from within.

03 — Scale

Turbocharge Growth

Accelerate with add-on acquisitions. Use the data flywheel to sharpen our tech stack. Expand scope beyond clinical care into clinical trials, licensing, and value-based models.

Apps & AI Agentic Tools

We deploy intelligent applications and AI-powered agents across the entire eye care workflow — from the moment a patient schedules an appointment through billing and follow-up — so physicians and staff can focus entirely on care.

Patient Experience

Streamline the patient journey with intelligent self-service tools that reduce wait times, simplify check-in, and improve appointment access.

Apps

Clinical Documentation

AI-powered ambient scribes and automated charting eliminate manual documentation burden, freeing physicians to focus on the patient in front of them.

AI Agents

Scheduling & Navigation

Intelligent scheduling agents optimize appointment cadences, reduce no-shows, and ensure patients are routed to the right provider at the right time.

AI Agents

Care Management

Automate prior authorization, insurance verification, and care coordination workflows that consume back-office hours and delay treatment.

AI Agents

Revenue Cycle Management

AI-driven claims processing, denial management, and reimbursement optimization to protect practice revenue and reduce administrative overhead.

AI Agents

Workflow Automation

Eliminate repetitive clicks, manual data entry, and siloed system transfers with agentic tools that work across EMR, imaging, and billing platforms.

Our Vision

Ophthalmology isn't constrained by science — it's constrained by systems

As the U.S. faces its toughest healthcare demands in generations, eye care professionals have been left with arcane tooling. Legacy EMRs, siloed imaging systems, and manual workflows mean that specialists who dreamed of saving sight now spend their days stuck in administrative grind. We're building the operating system for the future of eye care.

Join us in building the future of eye care

We're a founding team looking for exceptional people who want to work at the intersection of AI innovation and real-world clinical impact.

Product Engineer

Full-Time AI / Machine Learning Healthcare Founding Team

About the Role

As a Product Engineer at Visentia, you'll work at the intersection of AI innovation and real-world clinical impact. You will collaborate directly with our founder — a vitreoretinal surgeon with deep operational expertise — along with clinicians, data scientists, and designers to build intelligent products that transform how eye care is delivered.

What You'll Build

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered features for eye care clinic workflows — including patient intake apps, AI call center tools, ambient AI scribes, and automated charting systems
  • Build and integrate agentic AI tools: Care Management Agents, RCM Agents for claims processing and denials autopilot, and Scheduling Agents optimized for injection cadences
  • Develop the core intelligence engine: integrate imaging AI (OCT, fundus photography), clinical NLP, revenue cycle AI, and scheduling optimization into a unified platform
  • Architect the data flywheel — ensure every patient encounter and claim sharpens models through continuous learning loops
  • Build intuitive physician, technician, and RCM dashboards that surface actionable clinical and operational insights
  • Apply a build-vs-buy framework to rapidly evaluate, integrate, and customize third-party AI vendors alongside proprietary solutions
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and work with healthcare data standards including HL7/FHIR and DICOM
  • Conduct rapid prototyping and iterative experimentation to validate product hypotheses in live clinical environments

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Health Informatics, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated AI/ML experience: proficiency with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers, or scikit-learn
  • Strong software engineering skills in Python; experience building production-grade APIs, services, and data pipelines
  • Familiarity with modern AI paradigms including LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or agentic AI architectures
  • Solid understanding of software fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, version control (Git), CI/CD, and agile development
  • Excellent communication skills — ability to translate complex technical concepts for clinicians and non-technical stakeholders
  • Eligibility to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thesis or capstone project involving healthcare data, clinical NLP, medical imaging (especially retinal or ophthalmic imaging)
  • Experience with computer vision for medical imaging: OCT segmentation, fundus image analysis, or DICOM processing pipelines
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR) and EHR/EMR systems
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Additional proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, or Rust for full-stack product development
  • Published research or conference presentations in AI, ML, or healthcare informatics
  • Experience in fast-paced startup or hackathon environments; comfort with ambiguity and rapid iteration

Why Visentia

This is a founding-team-caliber role at an AI healthcare start-up tackling one of the most urgent problems in medicine. You'll help architect and ship the AI tools that will define the next generation of eye care — from agentic workflow tools and patient apps to imaging AI, clinical NLP, and revenue intelligence. Work directly with a physician-founder who has lived the problem firsthand.
